Why Mindfullness through Art

Art is one of the oldest and most effective form of wellness,  healing and expression. Visual art is a significant process and important for human development and evolution because it is used to communicate, to express, to record events, and to heal our mind and strengthen our wellness. It is therefore an excellent tool and medium to engage into Mindfulness therapy. We use various techniques of Mindfulness in order to provide participants from different background with choices to engage their creative self,  increase self awareness, ability to do reflection and rejuvenation. Our experienced art therapist will facilitate the entire process and provide insights to participants.

Creative Art Therapy

Creative Art Therapy uses art to express, resolve and relieve from all kinds of pressure or stress from life. This form of psychotherapy is subtle and safe. You do not need to talk about it as your art will do the talking and healing. Creative Art Therapy allows our mind to recover, heal or find creative ways to tend our mind and trauma at a safe and progressive individual pace.

Positive Psychology
We focus on the use of Positive Psychology during the process. Positive psychology is a scientific way to embrace strength of a person or group and using this strength as the source for wellness and treatment. It is also necessary to find the balance between positive and negative parts of self, group and life.

Creativity-Juice

Creativity-Juice program is introduced throughout the Creative Art Therapy to facilitate members creative thinking, creative problem-solving and visual thought process. This is essential for Creative Art Therapy to engage the active part of our creative self to feel fresh and think differently. Creativity-Juice is to use to remove our mental blocks in order to recover and heal from psychological and physical wounds.

Art as Medium

Mindfulness through art and creativity involves several and a wide range of art medium such as pencil, pastels, charcoal, clay, paint, collages, mural, graffiti, calligraphy, brush painting, finger painting, tempera, acrylic, poster, water colour, colour pencils, markers, collages, colourful paper, etc. Appropriate medium will be chosen taking into consideration for the safetly, readiness, space and resources.

Pre-requisite

For Mindfulness through Art and Creativity, it is a requirement that you or your team is willing to engage into art activities. The session will be conducted by experienced and trained Art Therapist - Mr. Paul Lee

Brief Art Therapist Credential

This program is facilitated by qualified, trained and experienced Art Therapist - Mr. Paul Lee. Mr. Lee Thiam Seng (Paul) is an artist, art teacher, art therapist, consultant and founder of UniqArts and Technologies in 1995. Mr. Lee holds a Masters of Art in Art Therapy from LaSalle College of the Arts and a Bachelor Degree in Management from Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology (RMIT), Australia. 

He has experience in running individual and group art therapy treatment for pupils at Association for Persons with Special Needs (APSN), women with breast cancer at KK Women's and Children's Hospital (KKH), psychotic patients at Changi General Hospital (CGH) Psychiatric Ward, older adults (geriatric) at Kwong Wai Shiu Hospital's (KWSH) Day Rehabilitative Center and Geriatric Day Hospital (GDH) at CGH. Mr. Lee conducted a research at KKH with Institutional Review Board (IRB) approval for his Art Therapy masters thesis: "Art Therapy as a Modality of Healing in Stages - For Women with Breast Cancer." Mr. Lee also integrated Taichi exercise with Art Therapy, Team Building through art and creativity and Healing Art Therapy.
